Kentucky Vineyard Society
John James Dufour, winemaker for the Marquis de LaFayette, founded The Kentucky Vineyard Society in 1798. The original shareholders in the KVS shared a vision to grow grapes along the Kentucky River.
Our original shareholders included many prominent names in Kentucky. Dufour joined with such renowned Kentuckians as U.S. Congressman and Secretary of State Henry Clay, U.S. Congressman John Brown, Kentucky Governor James Garrard, and 110 other subscribers to found the Vineyard Society. www.kyvineyardsociety.org/
